Configure SSO and 2FA

ActiveState provides login security measures including single sign-on (SSO) and two-factor authentication (2FA). Using both a password and 2FA code protects your account against unauthorized access if your password is compromised.

Single Sign-On (SSO)

Public Single Sign-On (SSO)

By default, all users can log in with GitHub SSO. To do this, follow the instructions found here.

Enterprise Single Sign-On (eSSO)

ActiveState can integrate with your enterprise SSO tools. Integrating the ActiveState Platform with your SSO may provide enhanced security for your runtimes, improved user experience for your developers, and help you meet compliance standards.

If you would like to implement eSSO into your organization, contact us at support@activestate.com or reach out to your account manager.

Two-Factor Authentication

Before you begin, you must have an app on your mobile device to scan the QR code displayed on screen. You can use Google Authenticator (iOS/Android), Authy (iOS/Android), or any similar app that provides the required QR code reading functionality.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication

To turn on two-factor authentication:

  1. In the menu at the top right of the page displaying your username, select Account Settings.
  2. Click the Two-factor Authentication link and then click Enable.
  3. Open the two-factor authentication app on your mobile device and scan the QR code that is displayed on the screen.
  4. Enter your six-digit code in the text box and click Confirm.

If your six-digit code is validated, two-factor authentication is enabled for your account. Two-factor authentication requires that you enter both your password and the current six-digit code displayed in your two-factor authentication app each time you log in.

Disable Two-Factor Authentication

You can turn off two-factor authentication at any time. To turn off two-factor authentication:

  1. Log into the Platform using your two-factor authentication code.
  2. In the menu at the top right of the page displaying your username, select Account Settings.
  3. Click the Two-factor Authentication link and then click Disable.

You will not be prompted for a two-factor code the next time you log in.
