What These Guides Cover

Each repository manager guide includes:

  1. Creating a proxy/remote repository for the ActiveState catalog
  2. Configuring authentication and connection settings
  3. Verifying your repository is working correctly
  4. Configuring package managers to use your repository manager
  5. Advanced configuration options
  6. Troubleshooting common issues

Why Use a Repository Manager?

Repository managers are required for ActiveState Curated Catalog customers because they provide:

  • Local caching - Faster installations and fewer network requests
  • Rate limit protection - Avoid hitting CloudFront rate limits
  • Offline access - Continue working with cached packages during outages
  • Better developer experience - Centralized package management across teams
